Oximeter App: now don't need to buy an Oximeter

Covid-19 pandemic is far from above although the overall case in India continues to shrink. Many experts and political figures have expressed concern over the third wave of the pandemic, and citizens are medical instruments who buy panic to ensure the security of their loved ones. One of the main tools to check the patient's positive condition is an Oximeter that measures the level of oxygen in the blood. Usually, Positive Covid-19 patients must ensure the level of oxygen above 95 percent, and whatever below must require urgent medical attention.

Careplix Vitals: Oximeter app

An oximeter app is launched to measure the blood oxygen level

Meanwhile, Carenow Healthcare, a health technology startup based in Kolkata, has developed a smartphone application dubbed the Careplix Vitals that allows users to monitor vitally like the pulse and spo2 by placing the index finger on the flashlight of the phone. The application claims to use the same photoplethysmographic or PPG principles that allow detecting volumetric variations in blood circulation by using light sources. In this case, this application uses a cellphone flashlight instead of infrared light in the oximeter.

At present, the Careplix Vitals application is available for free via Google Play and the Apple App Store. Users need to register with their email ID. According to the Privacy Graph App App Store, the application tracks user contact info and usage data. Users can save scans from each test and then use 'vitality analytics'. During our trial, we compare the results of the application with two different oximeters obtained from local medical stores. This application shows quite accurate results during each test. Talking about the accuracy of the data, Paul Subhabratage, one of the founders of Carenow Healthcare told Indian Express that the application "96 percent was accurate with a temporary heartbeat of 98 percent accuracy in the case of oxygen saturation" during the trial with 1200 individuals. The trial was carried out by the team at the Karnani Kolkata Sukhla Memorial Hospital, Paul further told this publication. The company's website notes that new users may face "problems with log in or registration" because of heavy traffic.
