International Yoga Day of 2021: From the first edition to the seventh.

International Yoga Day 2021: This year the theme is 'Yoga For Wellness' and therefore the focus are going to be on practicing yoga for physical and mental well-being.


On International Yoga Day on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Yoga became a source of inner strength for people and the media to change negativity to creativity in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Yoga tells us that so many problems may be out there, but we have an infinite solution in ourselves. We are the biggest energy source in the universe, "PM Modi said when he spoke to the nation on the seventh International Yoga Day. 

This year, the Yoga International Day theme is 'Yoga for health', and the focus will practice yoga for physical and mental well-being.

President of Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President of Venkaiiah Naidu, several ministers, and citizens across the country doing yoga on that occasion. However, the celebration and event were emphasized and held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Today's yoga day has been celebrated every year on June 21 since 2015.

At the United Nations
The proposal for observing International Yoga Day was first introduced by PM Modi in his speech during the opening of the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly. "  Holistic approaches are valuable for our health and our well-being. Yoga is not just about sports; this is a way to find taste Unity with yourself, the world, and nature, "Said PM Modi".

PM Modi proposed that June 21 was picked to celebrate the day of international yoga because it marked the turning of the summer sun in the northern hemisphere - the longest day of this year and is considered beneficial in many cultures.

The United Nations, recognizing the universal appeal, stating June 21 as Yoga's international day by resolution of 69/131 on December 11, 2014. Yoga International Day aims to increase awareness throughout the world from many benefits of many benefits.
The design of the resolution of establishing Yoga International Day was proposed by India and supported by records of member countries. 

Record of destruction
The first international yoga day saw the participation of nearly 36,000 people, including PM Modi and high-ranking officials from 84 countries, who did 21 asanas for 35 minutes at Rajpath Delhi. Yoga International Day created two records, the world's Guinness record for the biggest yoga class in one place and the other for the highest number of nationalities to participate.


 That day was billed as one to promote "harmony and peace" also triggered controversy with several Muslim organizations that said yoga was basically a Hindu religious practice and against Islam. Authorities denied the allegations and said that participation in Yoga Day was not mandatory.

The celebration was held in 192 of the 193 UN member states, except Yemen, and the event was held in 251 cities on six continents with 30,000 people who did Yoga in New York.
Yoga, ancient physical, mental, and spiritual training from India thousands of years ago. The word 'yoga' comes from Sanskrit and the means to join or unite, symbolizes the unity of the body and mind.
